Former Youngstown State men's golf Ross Beal (2004-08) has qualified for the Mackenzie Tour, the PGA Tour of Canada. Beal had a strong debut placing second at the PC Financial Open at the end of May.
Beal qualified for the tour finishing second with a 22-under par score of 266 at the PGA Tour Canada Q School in Florida in late April.
At the PC Financial Open held May 28-31 at Point Grey Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, he was one of five golfers to reach a playoff. Beal and two others were eliminated after the first hole, but in his first event, the Uniontown, Ohio, native picked up $11,500.
In his second tournament on June 6-7, Beal missed the cut at the Bayview Place Island Savings Open presented by Times Colonist despite a second-round 68.
Beal was a member of the YSU program from 2004 until 2008.
The next event for Beal is June 25-28 at The Syncrude Boreal Open Presented by AECON in Ft. McMurray, Alberta.
