Tailgating at Pitt

Looks like they are renting the Gateway Clipper once again. I did not think they would do this because it is a 1p start. It was fun the last time.

Traveline is offering a same-day motorcoach trip for the Youngstown State football team's season opener at Pittsburgh on Sept. 5 at Heinz Field. Kickoff for the contest is set for 1 p.m. The bus will depart from the YSU campus early that morning.

The cost of the trip is $50 per person and does not include the game ticket. For more information contact Traveline at (330) 941-2391 during regular business hours.

Additionally, the YSU Alumni Association is hosting a special tailgate on the Gateway Clipper near Heinz Field from 10 a.m. until noon. The cost of the tailgate is $25 and includes a buffet luncheon. YSU fans who are interested in attending the tailgate should call University Events at (330) 941-2136.

Season tickets and Penguin Club memberships for the upcoming season are available by calling the YSU Athletic Ticket Office at (330) 941-1978.

Nah, I'm good I don't need any subsidies.  I can drive myself down there and have dinner at Ruth Chris plus a game ticket for what they are charging for that trip haha.

They really dont charge to park at the casino? I was down there and they were charging 50 to park at the casino when I was there for a concert.

I havent been there for a game, but every other time the deck was free.

Never been down there for a Steelers game, but have been to both YSU games vs. Pitt.  Whoever said parking there was a "wreck" is understating the problem!  My suggestion is go early and tailgate, stay late and tailgate.

Parking at Station Square and taking the Clipper over like the bus trip folks are doing is a very good idea. Easy in\easy out.

I dont know what they think about tailgating however.

Unless you are familiar with the North Shore I would advise avoiding it. You can also park downtown and take the T over, but downtown really isnt any better if you dont know it since you still have all the 1-ways to deal with and depending on how you go home you might have to drive thru gameday traffic on the north shore anyway.

What about parking at the casino then though? And also, was curious which of the other people on this site are tailgaiting? I personally am going to be in a group of 7 people (all students) who are traveling in two vehicles to come.

I am a YSU fan living in Pittsburgh and will be at the game again!  As far as parking goes, I would suggest one of the garages or lots over closer to PNC park.  If you are willing to walk a half mile or so, you can park for free up on the streets by Allegheny General Hospital.   

Although I LOVE YSU, this first game is going to be a big proble. for YSU.  Pitt is LOADED on offense, and Narduzzi is making a big difference on Defense.  We cannot judge our YSU team by what we see from them in the first game.
