Youngstown State senior defensive tackle Steve Zaborsky has been named CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-District 5, the College Sports Information Director of America announced on Thursday.
Zaborsky, a native of nearby Mineral Ridge and graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, has started all eight games and been credited with 25 total tackles on the season, including 11 solo stops.
Entering his senior campaign, Zaborsky had a total of 18 total tackles in his YSU career.
It is the second time in his career, 2013 being the other season, that Zaborsky has been named first-team academic all-district.
Zaborsky earned his degree from YSU in the spring in mechanical engineering while postting a 3.71 GPA.
Earlier this year he was a semifinalist for the 2015 William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation. He was one of 135 student-athletes that the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame to be chosen as semifinalists for this prestigious award. He was also one of only 23 student-athletes representing the FCS.
First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and thirdteam All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
