Playoff Outlook
« on: November 10, 2015, 02:50:32 AM »
I see NDSU, ISUr, SDSU as locks.

UNI will win out and get in if they beat SIU and Misery State.

If we beat NDSU and iSUb is our OOC schedule strong to get us in as the 5th MVFC team?

If we win the last four and beat NDSU, there is no way we are left out. Mike Kern of the Valley said it was a slam dunk if we win out.

There is a slight chance that a 6-5 MVFC team may be invited, but a 7-4 MVFC team with a win over NDSU? Slam dunk for a first round home game.

Nobowls has 6 Valley teams in including the Yotes (!), with three seeded. They have Dayton visiting the Castle, with a second round game in Normal.

The Yotes still face ISUr and SDSU, so this bracket will likely change in the next few weeks with them dropping out.

There is absolutely no way we get in without win over NDSU, that's for sure.  Playoffs start Saturday @ 2:05!!

Only way a 6-5 team gets an at-large bid is if there are no 7-4 teams left from the full scholly conferences for the committee to chose.

6-5 without a quality win, don't deserve to be in.   6-5 and a quality league win or strong non-conference win, then maybe an outside shot.  Need to stop scheduling 2-3 stiffs every year before league play begins.

Schedule is fine.  You saying our schedule isn't strong enough to make the playoffs at 7-4?  If so, I don't think you are right.  Schedule is PLENTY strong enough if you play well enough. Nobody is getting in at 6-5

3 teams from our conference will get in. UNI is on the bubble but stands a good chance of beating Southern at home and owns a win over SDSU. I seriously doubt they will take a 5 loss team..but who knows

The issue for me is that we will better than at least 10 of the 24 teams.

UNI will beat SIU and make it 4 teams.

If we have a large margin of victory over ISUb, I'd say we have a chance.  Of our five losses....we were within a score of NDSU, ISUr, SIU, and Pitt.  SDSU only loss by more than one score.  Not the worst teams to lose to.

If we win next week by 28+, I'd say there is a significant but unlikely chance.
