The Youngstown State men's golf program has signed Justin Stark, a native of Mount Pleasant, S.C., to a National Letter of Intent, Head Coach Tony Joy announced on Thursday.
Stark, who attends Pinewood Prep School, was the South Carolina Independent School Association Region 3A Golfer of the Year in 2015 as well as was a standout linebacker this past fall for Mount Pleasant. South Carolina holds their annual state golf championship in the spring.
As a junior in 2015, Stark was an SCISA all-state selection. He averaged 37.5 strokes per nine holes and 77 per 18. He won the region tournament and had a top-five finish at the Charleston Esposito invitational shooting rounds of 76 and 73. His coach at Pinewood is Greg Baechtle.
On the football team, Stark played outside linebacker and tight end. He was selected to the North-South All-Star Game as a linebacker. The Panthers finished the 2015 season with an 11-2 record while advancing to the SCISA AAA playoffs.
