Indoor T&F championships
« on: February 28, 2016, 03:29:30 PM »
The ladies are in trouble. They have no one in the top group to finish in points for the 3,000. They will then be basically tied with Oakland & possibly UWM will be close as well. Then it is all down to the the final event ...4x100 relay. Oakland has the fastest time, with YSU second and UWM 3rd coming into the final. This will all come down to 1-event.

The men have a good lead, but no real chance to score anymore points. However, I do not think UWM or Oakland can score enough points to take us out of 1st.

Oakland dominated the 3,000 final taking 31 of 40 points. YSU took 1-point and UWM took zero points.

1    Oakland                    154
2    Youngstown St.    145
3    Wis.-Milwaukee    117

Does not look like YSU can score enough points to win the championship unless they win the 4x100 and Oakland does not finish. :(  Great meet gals. Let's go guys!!

Both of our teams did an excellent job this weekend.  The men pulverized Milwaukee, which must have felt wonderful after losing so many close meets to these guys over the years.

The fates were not with our women today.  Victory was in our grasp.  Our athletes were favored in the 60 meter hurdles and in the 400 meter run.  Both women fell on the track.  We lost over 20 points because of those mishaps (our probable 20 for winning these events plus a handful of additional points for Oakland whose runners moved up the ladder.)  Such is the nature of the sport of track.  Sometimes these things just happen.

Oakland is going to be a power in T&F for sometime to come. They are better than Loyola was. They have been a nice addition to the conference. They finished 1-2 today, same as YSU.

Congrats.  Dominating win by the men and tough break for the women.

Final event is the 4x400.
