Now how does that diatribe go again?
If he is a really good player he deserves a second chance as anybody can make a foolish mistake.
If he isn't...get rid of him, he is a cancer, and it free up a scholarship.

Firing guns on campus is over any line.  Sorry, but he used all his YSU chances on one really lucky screw-up.  (lucky in that nobody was hurt)

Safe to say I don't think we see him on the roster come the fall.

You can add starting LB Lee Wright to the list of being charged with improper handling of a firearm. Wright was a stud for us last year. Big shame......

Oh man Chief! All Conference & All Newcomer. Great info, bad news. He was just unstoppable against NDSU last year.

You just wonder how anybody, even dumbass 19 & 21 year old kids, can think shooting a gun on campus is a good idea?  Good grief, I was a kid once, (I think I can remember that far back!) and did some dumb stuff, but not with guns and certainly not on campus!

Need way more information.  Penalties for negligent discharge vary depending on the circumstances.  If the shot was fired "in anger", jail time is likely.  If simple negligence, then only a fine and probation are possible.  This is all assuming a concealed carry permit was on the person firing the shot.

The problem is the misinformation, phobia, and hysteria of this inanimate object...so these guys may not get a fair hearing.

IMO, there is a path to them continuing their lives, and their FB careers at YSU, if they have good counsel and it was a simple negligent discharge.

Any student who brings a gun to campus, including the apartment complexes that we lease to third parties, should be expelled.  Does not matter if it is a star athlete or a nobody.

We should remember that some of these black kids come from cultures that are, quite frankly, badly warped.  Fortunately, many take advantage of the opportunities that the university provides and go on to successful careers.  Unfortunately, some of these kids drift back into the bad habits of the culture that nurtured them.

We should continue to provide opportunities, but we should also accept the fact that we cannot save everybody.  These episodes will continue at all the universities in America that admit students from every strata of society.

From the YSU Resident handbook:

"The possession or use of firearms, ammunition, knives (of
any size/variety), swords, explosives (e.g., firecrackers) or other
dangerous weapons or use of hazardous or combustible materials
is prohibited in the residence halls.
In addition, paintball guns, pellet/BB guns, handcuffs,
stun guns or any similar object that may be used to do harm are
not permitted in the residence halls. Housing & Residence Life
reserves the right to confiscate any object that may be used for
inappropriate behavior.
Soft pellet guns, toy guns and water guns are also prohibited
from the residence halls."

A water gun?  Water guns are prohibited? Not even in the "hug room" or "safe space"?  If a casual glance is now a micro-aggression, a jet of water from a toy is probably a second Holocaust.

If knives of any size or variety are banned, how does one eat?

The person who is under 21 certainly doesn't have a concealed carry permit, and if it was Lee's firearm (since he was 21) he will still get the book thrown at him even if he has a concealed carry permit himself since he let someone use it improperly. I believe it is a 3 year jail sentence felony

I think the issue with Toy and water guns is that they look like real guns and they also do damage to the structure.
