Lots of frustration among UNI fans, who are running out of patience with Farley.  This game may play out like the ISUr game (low scoring battle for field position).  UNI and YSU are the only two MVFC Ds to not allow a rushing TD.  Aaron Bailey is a dual threat QB that, like Streveler of ISUr, we need to contain. They are 2-3/1-1 but have a much stronger SOS and a P5 win.  Outside of WVU, this will be our biggest challenge so far.  Speaking of P5 wins, its interesting to see how ISUr and UNI collectively are 1-4 in the MVFC and both beat P5 teams.  The MVFC is a beast.

That was true until last Saturday.  Stats weren't updated when I posted that.

On Penguin Playbook Monday night, Hannon said only one other FCS team has allowed zero rushing TDs, but didn't say who it is.

5dimes has YSU -2.5, and an over/under of 38.5, which seems to be too high.

Massey gives YSU a 56% likelihood to win, and predicts a score of 20-17.

I just checked the stats on the NCAA's site, and ytownchief22 is correct.  OSU and YSU are the only D1 teams to not allow a rushing TD.  Good chance that's still the case after this Saturday.

The "change in philosophy" was quite some time ago. Pre-Wolf for certain. We have played UNI with the spread more than a few times. I can go back an look at some of my photos, that may tell us something.

Ohio State and YSU are the only 2 schools (FBS or FCS) to not allow a rushing TD. FYI ;)

Love the helmets, OK with the "blackout"
More interested in QB "looking off" a DB or going to a secondary receiver once in a while.
Also interested in what is bothering Ruiz?  He is the closest thing we have have to a power back and we can't beat teams like UNI, SDSU and NDSU with a tiny scatback on every down.

Love to be there for this one  :'(

Any takers on SDSU? I've said if YSU beats UNI I'm going to Brookings. PM me or call/text.

I dont remember that, but I'll take your word for it. I'm probably still shell shocked from them gaining hundreds of yards from the I and pro set year after year in the past. Kind of burned into mt brain.

The stats against SD are VERY encouraging.

You know part of that could be my fault as well Happy. I take any team with an option game (especially QB) and lump them together as spread. It has really been a while since UNI did not have a very mobile QB. I really thought they were going to win that 2005 championship against Appy State. They really spread it out that game. I also remember them playing Villanova (so that must have been back in 2009 or 10). They should have won that game.

Well guys and gals ...it is Thursday. Time for predictions. All indications are a close game, but I am saying we will by at least 2-scores. 31-21 good guys.

Hoping the Guins cut back on the return penalties (the two last week cost them 20 and 12 yards of field position), and the unnecessary pass interference / defensive holding penalties on third and long.

I think its something in the range of 7-10 to 21-28  YSU winning.

So in less confusing terms, I think probable final scores are: 21-7 YSU, 21-10 YSU, 28-7 YSU, 28-10 YSU.

I don't see 52 points on the board.  I'm ok with your 10 point spread, I see more like 20-10
