Kenosha, Wis. - The Youngstown State men's cross country team earned its first Horizon League cross country title in program history with an impressive performance at the Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

YSU finished with 48 points to earn a 20-point decision over UIC which had 68 points. YSU placed its five runners in the top 14 spots to clinch the title on a warm day in Wisconsin. The Guins were one point shy of winning the title last year and found redemption on Saturday.

Youngstown State was led by junior Ryan Sullivan's third-place finish (25:14) and fellow all-league honoree Ethan Wilson in the eighth spot (25:57). Alan Burns placed 11th at 26:19 while Tristan Dahmen earned Freshman-of-the-Year accolades and was the top freshman performer while finishing 12th (26:21).

Other finishers for the Penguins were James Nedrich who was 34th while Micheal Dahmen was 39th.

The previous men's cross country title was in 1996 when YSU was part of the Mid-Continent Conference.

The women were fourth led by an impressive run by senior McKinsie Klim. Klim placed third with a time of 22:03.8. Michelle Klim was 16th with a time of 23:01, Jennifer Muhlenkamp was 25th with a 23:17, Libby Rogenski was 29th with a 23:29 and Mogan Ansell finished 42nd with a 24:09.

McKinsie Klim was named first-team All-Horizon League for her efforts.
