The Youngstown State men's basketball team picked up a 97-67 win over Westminster on Tuesday night at the Beeghly Center. YSU had six players score in double figures with Brett Frantz leading the way with 18 while Braun Hartfield added 17.
The Penguins (3-3) won for the second time in three days and were playing for the fourth time in five. Westminster suffered its first loss of the season and fell to 2-1 on the season.
Frantz had the hot hand making six 3-pointers in the contest for all of his 18 points. Hartfield cashed in from the free-throw line making 9-of-11 attempts and had four field goals. He also had eight rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots in 24 minutes.
Also scoring in double figures for the Penguins were Francisco Santiago (11), Matt Donlan (10), Cameron Morse (10) and Devin Haygood (10). Eleven of the 12 players who saw action on Tuesday night scored for the Guins.
The Penguins built a 44-27 lead at halftime and never looked back. YSU never trailed in the contest.
For the game, YSU shot 52.5 percent making 32-of-61 shots and went 11-of-24 from beyond the 3-point arc. The Guins also made 22-of-36 free throws. Westminster shot 32.9 percent making 23-of-70 attempts from the field. Cameron Kane-Johnson led the way for the Titans with 13 points.
YSU out-rebounded the Titans 45-33 and had a 20-0 lead on fast-break points.
YSU is back at home on Saturday when it plays host to Canisius. Tip-off for the contest is set noon at the Beeghly Center.
