Youngstown State's Chad Zallow and Jaliyah Elliott were selected as the Horizon League's Runners of the Week for their performances at the Akron Zips Invitational the league announced on Tuesday.
Zallow won the 60m dash and the 60m high hurdles at the Akron Zips Invitational. Zallow took first in the 60m dash by 0.04 seconds as YSU placed 1-5 in the event. In the 60m hurdles, he posted a time of 7.87 seconds to take first by 0.32 seconds. Against collegiate competition, Zallow has not lost a race this season in the hurdles. It marks the fourth time this year that he received the weekly award.
Elliott won the 60m dash at the Akron Zips Invitational on Friday. Elliott cruised the title with a career-best time of 7.47 seconds in the event. She won by 0.16 seconds ahead of teammate Taylor Thompkins. Elliott's time moved her into second place in the event in school history. She received her second weekly award.
Both runners have a busy weekend ahead of them as the Penguins play host to the Horizon League Championships on Saturday and Sunday at the WATTS.
