INDIANAPOLIS-Youngstown State University’s Chad Zallow and Jaynee Corbett have been honored with the title of 2018 Alfreeda Goff Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Year. Zallow boasts the top mark in the Horizon League this season in the 60m hurdles, 60m dash, and 200m dash while Corbett leads the league in both the shotput and weight throw.
Chad Zallow ranks third in the NCAA in the 60m hurdles with a top time of 7.65 seconds. The junior has won the 60m hurdles five times this year. Zallow finished fourth at the NYRR Millrose Games against professional runners with a time of 7.70 seconds. He also won the 60m hurdles at the YSU Icebreaker (7.65), Kent State Golden Flash Gala (7.71), Dr. Sander Invitational Armory Challenge (7.66) and the SPIRE NCAA Invitational (7.75 seconds). The Ohio native has the fastest time in the league in the 60m dash as well at 6.83 seconds (Feb. 9) and also owns the fastest time in the 200m dash with a time of21.58 seconds (Dec. 1).
Jaynee Corbett owns the top marks in the shot put and the weight throw in the Horizon League this year. The senior ranks 34th in the shot put in the NCAA and has won the shot put at five meets and weight throw twice. Corbett extended her school record in the shot put with a throw of 16.00m at the YSU Icebreaker. The Pennsylvania native won the shot put at the YSU Icebreaker, YSU College Invitational, Dr. Sander Invitational Armory Challenge, YSU Mid-Major Invitational and SPIRE NCAA Invitational. She has thrown more than 15.62m in five of six meets, a mark mark leads the HL by nearly nine feet. Corbett’s best effort in the weight throw was 17.90m at the YSU Mid-Major Invitational, a mark is the longest in the league by more than five feet.
