Recruiting Classes
« on: February 27, 2018, 11:41:09 AM »
According to Brian McLaughlin, who does this regularly, but I haven't followed enough to have an opinion, here are the top 50 FCS recruiting classes for 2018.  We were ranked 38th in his list last year.
Of note is the lack of SDSU on the list, and I was surprised to see how many OVC schools were ranked above us!  Opinions?  Anybody have an opinion on McLaughlin's creds?

McLaughlin has been doing this for a long time and knows everybody. I respect his opinion. He knows what he’s talking about

Looks like he has been following FCS recruiting for a while, but 2017 appears to be the first time he ranked the top 50 classes, so it will take a couple more years to see how it plays out.

TOO BAD.  I was hoping he was the opposite.  class ranked 38 two years in a row isn't too good!  Maybe that is why we have to scrounge around for a grad student, "one and done" QB and have -0- OT?

James Madison's top recruit is an OT named Amelio Moran

That would fill one big hole at YSU!

Hard to rank FCS recruiting classes.

Usually takes 4-5 years!

hard to rate FCS, but just as hard for FBS and past that, it is really hard to rate a NFL draft class.  I read 4-5 years, but I'm thinking more like 2-3.  By the time the RS finishes his Soph. year, you know what you've got.
