Youngstown State senior men's tennis player Danylo Veremeichuk was named the Horizon League Player of the Week for his performance this past week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Veremeichuk picked up a pair of key singles wins to help YSU start the 2019 season with a 2-0 record. Against St. Bonaventure, Veremeichuk beat Lukas Malmberg 7-6, 6-0 on Friday at No.1 singles. On Sunday, in a 4-3 win at Duquesne, Veremeichuk won 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 over Chris Corrao also at No. 1. He earned a doubles win at No. 1 against the Dukes in a 4-3 YSU victory.
The Penguins are back in action on Friday when they visit Butler. First serve against the Bulldogs is set for 2 p.m.
