Various Youngstown State baseball players were active across the country over
the summer as they looked to showcase their skills and develop for the 2019-20 season.
Nick LaBrasca and Dylan Swarmer were both members of the Geneva Red Wings in
the Perfect Game League. LaBrasca batted .241 with five doubles, one home run
and 10 RBIs. The 2018 Horizon League All-Freshman Team honoree also added
five walks and seven runs scored in 19 games played. Swarmer hit .355 with
11 hits in 31 at-bats over 10 games played. The 2019 Horizon League
All-Freshman Team selection recorded five doubles, six RBIs and six walks.
The Red Wings finished the summer with a 26-20 record. The team
advanced to the Perfect Game West Division Championships with
a 5-4 win over the Elmira Pioneers that featured a walk-off single
by LaBrasca in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Blaze Glenn, a Second-Team All-Horizon League pick in each of
the last two seasons, played in 36 games for the Morehead
City Marlins of the Coastal Plain League. The Toronto, Ohio,
native batted .254 with eight doubles, one home run and 24
RBIs in 118 at-bats. He also registered 17 walks, 23 runs
scored and 13 stolen bases in 14 attempts. Glenn helped
lead the Marlins to a franchise-record 37 wins in the regular
season and their second consecutive CPL championship.
Phillip Glasser and Lucas Nasonti each spent the summer
with the Southern Ohio Copperheads of the Great Lakes
Summer Collegiate League. Glasser, who was named to
the Horizon League All-Freshman Team in 2019, hit .266 with
six doubles and 18 RBIs in 128 at-bats over 37 games. The
Tallmadge, Ohio, native also recorded 22 walks, 24 runs
scored and five steals.
Nasonti, a 2018 Horizon League All-Freshman Team pick,
batted .317 with six doubles, one triple and 19 RBIs in
101 at-bats over 26 contests. The Warren, Ohio, native
added seven walks, 21 runs scored and five stolen bases.
The Copperheads finished the summer with a record of 23-18,
and finished third in the GLSCL's South Division.
Steven D'Eusanio also spent the summer playing in the Great
Lakes Summer Collegiate League. He hit .252 with two doubles,
three triples, one home run and 14 RBIs in 103 at-bats over 30
games with the Galion Graders. D'Eusanio also collected 13
walks, 17 runs scored and one stolen base. The Graders
concluded their campaign at 11-29 in the GLSCL's North Division.
Cameron Murray batted .288 in 118 at-bats over 30 games
with the Gwinnett Tides of the Sunbelt League. He also notched
nine doubles, 14 RBIs, 15 walks, 31 runs scored and 13 stolen
bases in 16 attempts. The Tides finished the summer season
with a mark of 15-15.
The Youngstown State baseball team is scheduled to begin
