The fact that discussions for two days before the tenth football game of the season have focused exclusively on men's swimming and women's lacrosse should send shivers down the backs of the university administration.

South Dakota has some offense but plays absolutely no defense.  Of course, Southern Illinois plays no defense either and they held our juggernaut to about 30 yards on the ground (when we were still healthy.) Will this team go through the motions or play with some pride?

If you and others are hoping for a miracle, here is how it could happen.

Illinois State must lose today at SDSU (possible.)
Southern Illinois must be upset at home today by Missouri State or on the road next week by Western Illinois (extremely unlikely.)

If we win out (extremely unlikely) and BOTH of the above scenarios transpire, we could conceivably grab the fourth MVFC bid (if the league gets a fourth bid.)

I am not hoping for  miracle.  I would just like to see us win and go to post season as I feel many do.  The team is not playing for pride.  They are playing for a playoff spot at this point.

8-4 will most likely get them in
