YSU overcame 11 points deficit twice in the 2nd half to beat UIC 88-79. Cohill and Akuchie both had a great game

YSU hung in there and toughed it out.   The guys had a tough time with the high pick and roll were UIC was a step faster.   Obviously Cohill was terrific but Mayes and Hunter gave nice production as did Akuchie.
Olison never got going and he is needed if this team is going to compete.   Can't have off games at this point in the season.

After a very disappointing loss, give YSU a ton of credit for fighting back in this game, sticking together and pulling out basically a must win for any hope at a top 4 seed.  UIC is now back in the tournament so the 5th seed will now have to play a 1st round game rather than a bye and a match-up with the #4 seed.

It really didn't have a good feel.  YSU had a shot at  the end of the first half to get it to within 1 or tie, but couldn't score and gave up that long buzzer beater 3 then started the half giving up an easy old fashioned 3-point play.  That felt like a major swing.  And after that it just felt like both teams were trading baskets and YSU couldn't get stops.  YSU then hit some big 3's to chip away at it and finally played better defense.  It seemed like once YSU got over the hump, UIC was frustrated and pretty much controlled it at the end.

Cohill was just unbelievable again, and Akuchie was tremendous.  YSU's 3-point and FT shooting along with only turning the ball over 5 times was the difference.   Like it was said, need better contribution from Olison to beat the better teams and win consistently.

Now YSU needs to take care of business Saturday against IUPUI, who beat RMU by 10 on the road for their first league win.  There's a lot of games this weekend with good teams playing each other; NKU-Detroit, Wright State-Oakland, Wright State-Detroit, NKU-Oakland.  Need to PFW to stumble up this weekend at least once against Milwaukee & Green Bay as they've won 5 straight and have the tiebreaker over YSU.

Dwayne Cohill is really good and takes us over the top in these games. Pressure doesn't get to him and he wants to be in those end of game situations to win the game, much like DQ did in the past. And Michael Akuchie is really playing well, with others contributing. Down 11 in the 2nd half and I thought we were finished. Thought Will Dunn would be better, but he is contributing and hopefully gets more aggressive on the boards and plays good defense and gets some shots to go. But Miles Hunter is really scoring well from mid-range, 5 for 5 yesterday. Hard to take him out for Will Dunn. Hope we can continue on Saturday.
