Men Finish First in Gold Division at Notre Dame Invitational

Notre Dame, Ind - For the first time in program history, the Youngstown State men's cross country team finished first in the Gold Division Race of the men's 5-mile at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational.

The Penguins placed five men in the top 20 to tally 60 points. Senior Chase Easterling led the Penguins with a time of 24:17.6, the second-fastest 5-mile time in school history. He finished fourth out of 111 runners.

Junior Hunter Christopher was the next Guin to cross the line, finishing seventh with a time of 24:35.8. Juniors Tyler Clark and Ryan Meadows finished in 14th and 15th with personal-best times of 24:45.6 and 24:46.4, respectively. Clark's 5-mile time is the sixth-fastest in school history, and Meadows' time ties for the seventh-fastest.

Sophomore Keegan Barnette finished 20th, clocking a 24:59.1, the eighth-fastest 5-mile time in YSU history.

In the women's 5k, Senior Morgan Cole ran the second-fastest women's 5k time in YSU history, 17:07.5, to place fifth out of 145 competitors in the Gold Division. Senior Mackenzie Scott was the next Penguin to cross the line with the 14th-fastest time in school history, 18:11.01, to finish 44th.

The women tallied 236 points to finish eighth out of 19 teams.

The Penguins will see a break in competition before dividing and conquering at the Penn State National Open and Bowling Green Falcon Invitational on Oct. 14.
