Beeghly

It's time to get the ball rolling on off season remodel of the stands.  They put the lobby much better than the arena.

Do other schools have loges?

A handful of schools do.  For once in his life, I wish that Strollo would forget about the wealthy and their loges and provide quality, comfortable seating for the common folk.

Was not even sure if loges were an option, if they could bring in some big bucks to improve the other seating, then that is one thing. Loges or not the seating needs to be upgraded, get rid of the bleachers and give the new seating more room. I am 6-1 and the current red seats do not have enough leg room.

Not a big deal if we lose a bunch of seating as we will never sell out anyway. Better to have a first-class arena albeit less capacity.

I believe that Duquesne's arena is too small but it's very beautiful.  Completely renovated.

Duquesne's facility is very similar to Beeghly.  Keep in mind the bid for the Beeghly renovation is/was $2.5 million.  That is merely a face lift at best.

We’re they able to get financial support from PNC, UMPC and others to pay for any of the renovations?

Duquesne and RMU have beautiful facilities. Especially in comparison to beeghly. If I’m a recruit I would want to play at one of those beautiful gyms or an empty ancient beeghly?

Does anyone know/believe that this is actually going to happen?  Donor money is being earmarked for support areas.  This includes Stambaugh and Beeghly.  These updates to some degree benefit all sports.

Haven’t been able to find a specific financing plan besides “corporate investments, private donations, and a state grant.”

Safe to assume - UPMC and other Duquesne athletic sponsors helped tremendously.

UPMC was the driving force of the Duquesne renovation, they provided much of the money.

Which is why comparing the situation at Duquesne and at YSU makes no sense. We lack a corporate mega donor and wealthy individuals have little interest in basketball. Makes for a tough situation.

I will add something else.  Although the seating is outdated and terrible, there are features in Beeghly that are very positive that fans do not see.  Renovated locker rooms, state-of-the-art video room, that weight room that you can see at the corner of the west deck.
