Mud,you are 100%.   Siem U was supposed to be a big get in the portal and has really struggled for a guy with 4 years of college basketball.  I'm more down on Nelson than Wilkerson.  Thought he would be a huge addition an so far he has not shot the ball well and has been a little loose with the ball.

Dynes needs to grow as a player and not get foolish fouls which hurt the team.  Can't make excuses about all new players because every team in the country with few exceptions has this problem and YSU has done this the last couple of seasons and still won 20 plus games.

Need to bounce back against SFA.

Presby knocks off Monmouth today 71-61.  I figured Presby was at best the 3rd best team in the tourney and never figured they'd sweep all 3 games. They did need OT to beat SFA and beat winless Monmouth by 10 so their "upset" win by 25 over YSU was obviously the most impressive.

17 unanswered points for SFA as they lead 30-24 at the half.  Sounds horrific.

YSU up 24-13 with just over 8 minutes to go in the first half & SFA goes on a 17-0 run to close the half. Unreal

wondering out loud if Evan needed to recruit a power forward type.  When Dynes is out our biggest guy is 6-6 with the exception of Kirkland .  I thought this would be good shooting team and a team that can score the ball based on paper.  Based on early season results it is not and if things don't pick up then can only hope that the Horizon is down.

The Syracuse game has given me false hope.   Sounds like I'm raising the white flag a little premature.

With the exception of the Chicago State game YSU has been out rebounded every game.  Calhoun's team were rarely out rebounded and in his 7 years his season totals were always ahead of the opponents.

Bad shooting, bad rebounding, and bad free throw shooting.  Starting three guard offense goes 7of 31.

Out rebounded by 15...crazy. Just 8-17 FT.

I said anything less than 2 wins in this tournament would be disappointing. I really expected YSU to win all 3 & worst case lose to SFA. Hard to believe a 25 point loss to Presby & an 8 minute scoreless drought tonight giving up 17 straight.

Definitely a scoring & rebounding issue.

I hate to say it. If we couldn’t play defense, couldn’t rebound, couldn’t shoot and couldn’t make FT, what good are we?

Unless we find a shooting rhythm then I hate to say it 10 wins max.  Bottom of the Horizon. From competing last 3 years to this and seeing the success Calhoun is having at Utah St  makes me wonder about the team. Everyone is rt Seim, Carrol and Dynes are not playing well.   The entire team cannot shoot.   So maybe we are destined for the basement in the Horizon.  I don't know but based on the fact that our only two wins are against winless teams tells me a ton.

We miss Calhoun big time.  Offensively we would be so much better.  Probably have different players here and a power forward.   Take it as it may but if Faulkner goes from top in conference to bottom in just one year some may ask was he the right choice.  Any thoughts?

The inability to schedule home games is a big issue.  The head coach who has never been a head coach has a tall task.  The team has been to Chicago, Columbus, Syracuse and now Texas.  Not to mention he is traveling with a portal team that has only been together for 6 months.
None of what I mentioned spells instant success.
