Way too early to judge the men's or women's program. Both are having some early issues.

BTW last I looked Calhoun was 1-4 so far.

Calhoun is 5-0 and beat Iowa on a neutral court Friday.   agree with guinpen on the men's team that it's too early to make any long term opinions on the season but the examples so far with shooting and rebounding has been concerning.   Thought they would get 2 out of 3 down in Texas and the blow out loss to Presbyterian was as bad of loss as the program has had in the last 4 years.  Got to see how they fare against the Horizon league before opinions can be made.  Listening to the last 3 games was fustrating and I'm guilty of getting negative about what I'm hearing and what the stats show.

Don't think the women's team will do much this year.   Got to give coach Jackson time to build a roster.

It's definitely too early to start making major assumptions. I do remember Coach Faulkner saying the offense wasn't where it needed to be in one of those early press conferences.

The game that caused the biggest alarm this season was losing to Presbyterian by 25.  And I don't think anyone expected that we really should have beat Syracuse.  It's too bad the Westminster game didn't happen as that would have been a good chance to gel before hitting the road.  Like someone did say this team has been to Chicago, Columbus, Syracuse, and 3 straight in Texas without a home game.

Wish YSU had a couple more days this week to put in a good scout and prep to play Western Michigan and hopefully the Bethany game will provide everyone and opportunity to feel better about themselves.

Really can't kill the defense.  Outside of the Ohio State & Syracuse games, they are only giving up 63 ppg. And if you had said they would hold Monmouth to 60, Presby to 67 & SFA to 64, you'd have thought they would have at least won 2 if not all 3 games this week.  And honestly I thought the defensive effort was good against Ohio St, who only had 37 at half, and Syracuse, who had 31 at the half! They only gave up 73 to Syracuse in regulation.

Good points on the YSU defense.  I sort of guess there's something positive.

This is why the Presbyterian loss was so bad. Their basketball history in pretty feeble.

Before that darn portal, Calhoun had extensive and successful head coaching experience at D2 and about five more years of experience at YSU. Faulkner had none of that. Last spring he had to assemble a staff and replenish the roster that had few players returning. The odds were stacked against this man. Patience.

My bad, looked at the women's schedule.

I agree with patience as the season is early and don't want to give him the Doug Phillips beat down that  this site is famous for. ;D  However,in the portal era you have the opportunity to revamp your roster every year as coach Calhoun did the last few years and that most mid-major programs are doing.   Coach Faulkner has been here over 5 years and knows the ins and outs and he is responsible for the this program.   I'm behind him 100% and the season is young.   Don't want to see what Calhoun has built up have too much of a drop off especially how football has gone.  Need something at YSU to be proud of.

Defense I ahead of the offense big time with the men's team.  If we can nail some shots we will be fine.  Teams will begin to foul us more because we cannot make a free throw to save our lives.  We got to be one of the worst in D1 basketball in 3 point % made.  We are bad

I too don't want to see what Calhoun built go away in just one season.  He is a good coach and can navigate the portal big time.  Not sure if Faulkner can. Though he was by Calhouns side for 5 years.  I thing Assistant Robinson had to do alot with recruiting and he is at Utah st.

Question. Why did Dan Peters resign ad head coach when he was turning the men's program around?
