MBB Non-Conference Schedule
« on: June 27, 2024, 01:01:22 PM »
YSU will play at Syracuse on 11/16 for the first time ever.

At Ohio State on 11/11.

Playing in a tourney at Stephen F. Austin.

I hope our home non-conference schedule is better than last year.  I know we had 2 schools back out, but ended up with 2 D1 home games (the Navy game was at 2 in the afternoon on a Thursday) and 4 non D1 home games

Plus Westminster as usual and one other lower div school I believe. Heard it at the curbstone coaches luncheon a few months ago.  May I believe

Looking like a tough non-conference schedule.  I had forgotten about Toledo & Western MI.

The Westminster game always draws in a good crowd.  I wish YSU could play a local D2 like Slippery Rock, Edinboro or Clarion.  Would be better competition than some of these D3 or NAIA schools

Does anyone know the other non D1 school we are playing next season?  Let us know.  Cannot believe we are playing Chicago St home and home series.  They are not that good

While they have traditionally been terrible, they have been improved the last 2 years. I watched them several times last season & were impressive at times.  They went 13-19 including wins at Northwestern, FDU and beat 21-11 UC San Diego in the CBI tournament. They then lost to Fairfield, which was 24-12, in the 2nd round.  They played a pretty tough schedule because they are not in a confernce.  Only lost to Kansas State by 7 and Duquesne by 5.

Why do we play at Toledo?  When are they coming here to play?  Cannot get any reputable d1 schools to come here.  Sounds mind boggling.  Men's schedule going to suck for beeghly.   So maybe 12 home games and 10 are in conference.   I hope the one game needed to be added is a home game.  Newly refurbished Beeghly and lack of home games?  Nice should have left it the same then.

Just a guess but maybe it is all about getting some more $$$$$

Youngstown State Men’s Hoops will travel to Western Michigan in November as part of its 2024-25 non-conference slate.

We may get a check from Toledo and other MAC Teams for road game. Someone else may know if thats the case.   Heck I thk we paid alot of money to get Louisiana to play at Beeghly last year.  I wanna say it was like $40k.  Which to me makes no sense but everyone wants legitimate teams and for good reason at home.  Just not sure thats how things work in college athletics right now. We need to grab the money until things settle down.  I bet Oakland will be on the road for 4,5 or 6 money games this season.
