they won't pay $10 to see St. Francis.....but I think they would to see Big East teams....and they would fill up the visitors side...
Another hurdle to think about is the 30k seat requirement for a 1BCS stadium.  Funds are always an issue especially with the economy. Where is the $$ going to come from to add onto Stambaugh?  You'd think in the long run with all the travel costs associated with heading to the Dakota's etc.. more butts in the seats at the Ice Castle and the TV revenue's from ESPN for Tues, Thursday night games it would make sense monetarily in the long run.
I'll miss the playoff's but in the MVFC if your not 1 or 2 you may not see the playoff's!!  :o

YBR ...it used to be 30k seats or 17k attendance. It is now 15k attendance only ...no seating requirments. Many schools in MAC and Sun were "grandfathered" back to the 30k requirement to keep them IA ...but that is changing as well.

Rutgers and UConn are trying to bail from the Big East. Doesn't leave much. Here in Delaware, Blue Hen fans for the most part want to stay FCS in the CAA rather than make any move. Best to wait til the dust settles. Bigger changes may be on the horizon.

The key word there being "Horizon". Basketball dictates conference moves. When it doesn't ...you can use marshall as an example

We don't have the cash...our fanbase has shrunk ...sadly we are stuck in a league that i feel could careless that we are in it...

If we moved I would love the CAA...but my small contribution to the penguinclub wont get us there!

Honestly!  This topic flares up every year!  Read Indy's post.  We don't have the money to play with the Big Boys.  We will never have the money to play with the Big Boys.  And that is not really a bad thing.  Take a deep breath and think about what we have.  We play in the best mid-major basketball league, one that is superior to that MAC that some of you seem to worship.  We play in one of the four football power conferences in FCS.  There is nothing wrong whatsoever with the places where we are situated. Winning football and competitive basketball could cure everything.  And those are the ends to which we should be channeling our energies.

Henguin, are you still out there?  Some of us would like to hook up with the remnants of the current CAA, if that football conference survives this turmoil.  So, do you believe that the CAA will survive?  Would the surviving members be interested in Youngstown State as the western terminal of CAA football?

I think the CAA will survive, however JMU and new comer Old Dominion have made significant investments in their stadiums opening the door to moving up.   The question is to what. Delaware is content where they are. Some of the talk aound here is the formation of a new D1 conference cherry picking the best of the CAA and Southern Conference and maybe Temple. IMO not a bad idea. But due to the finance issues I think the status quo will remain for a while. Villanova was all pumped to move to the Big East but reality set in. Their football team has no fan base. Don't know what the politics would be to get YSU in the CAA. I know Delaware fans would like to see YSU on the schedule. (I would wear my Penguin gear for that game.) They are tired of West Chester, Delaware State and Duquesne type games. With the loss of UMass and Rhode Island next year and last year of Hofstra and Northeastern, the CAA has become a Southern conference. Not sure it would be a good fit for YSU.

How can that be?  The greatest university of them all?

Leave poor Nova alone. He's dealing with a 1-7 football team and an unfortunately close relationship with Lecter!!

It's a message board just to bullshat on.  Post something about surviving the conference we're currently in to keep us up to date.

This board is as fun as the fans in the stadium we call home  :o
