Ashley Dow Named HL Swimmer of the Week
« on: January 25, 2012, 01:25:28 PM »
Indianapolis, Ind. -- Youngstown State freshman swimmer Ashley Dow (Houston, Texas) has been named the Horizon League Women's Swimmer of the Week for the period of Jan. 16-22. It is the first weekly honor of Dow's YSU career.

Dow took home women's top honors after winning two of the three individual events she entered at the Butler Invitational. Dow's 58.46 winning time in the 100-backstroke and her 2:06.63 time in the 200-backstroke were both season-best times. She also won the 100-yard backstroke in YSU's dual-meet against Wright State.

She helped lead the Penguins to an impressive win at the five-team Butler Invitational on Sunday.

Dow is the first YSU swimmer to be named the Horizon League's swimmer of the week since Samantha Roberts was selected on Jan. 10, 2011.

UIC's Luke Martinez was tabbed the men's swimmer of the week.

The Penguins return to action on Friday when they visit Bowling Green. The dual is set to start at 5:30 p.m.
