Octeus will be signing with Colorado State. Looking back the offer to Beamon was likely in response to this news
http://www.examiner.com/article/colorado-state-s-larry-eustachy-lands-second-recruit-jc-transfer-jon-octeusJeff Greer of the Palm Beach Post reported Wednesday morning that Wabash Valley College guard Jon Octeus will sign with Colorado State Friday.
The report says Octeus originally signed with Garden City Community College in the spring of 2010, following his senior season in high school, but the 6'4” guard landed in Mt. Carmel, Illinois at Wabash Valley.
As a freshman, Octeus averaged 12.3 points on 41 percent shooting with 5.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He should fit right in with the Rams as a skilled shooter, knocking down 37 percent of his shots from beyond the arc last year, while hitting 79 percent of his free throws.
Octeus also had offers from Eastern Kentucky, Missouri State, Youngstown State and Indiana State, but he chose CSU and all the positive momentum the program is building.
The Rams made the NCAA Tournament last year for the first time since 2003 and the first time as an at-large bid since 1991. That was the cherry on top of five years of improvement by the men's basketball team, led by Tim Miles.
