Mitzel Fires School-Record Lowest Round of 67

Dayton, Ohio - Youngstown State sophomore Allison Mitzel carded a school-record low round of 67 on Tuesday to help the Penguins finish sixth at the Dayton Fall Invitational held at the NCR Country Club.

Mitzel finished tied for third in the tournament with a two-round total of 143. She carded a 76 on Monday before firing a four-under-par score on Tuesday. She tied Detroit's Lindsey Lammers for third while Kelly Voigt of Valparaiso won the event with a 139.

The previous low round was a 70 by Katie Rogner on Sept. 6, 2010 at the YSU Fall Inviational.

As a team on Tuesday, the Penguins shot a score of 297, the second lowest for the day. YSU had a 615 for the event after scoring a 318 on Monday. Detroit won the team title with a 588 while Valparaiso was second.

Sophomore Aislynn Merling tied for 25th with a 155 (76-79), Sarah Heimlich was 36th with a 158 (84-74), Sana Khan finished 53rd with a 162 (85-77) and Emily Rohanna was 59th with a 163 (82-81).

This was the final event of the fall for the Penguins.
