Women at Toledo
« on: March 23, 2013, 02:27:52 PM »
Not going well at this point. YSU is 2-for-11 shooting w/ 6 TOs. UT scored off of all 6. We are in trouble and taking too many threes.

Brandi has to sit with 3-fouls only half-way through the first. UT has only made one shot in the last 6:50, and YSU has made none. This one is over. I would have liked to hang with them, we have not done so. Nice season.

It's up to the men now ...come on guys, give us a "W" today.

I turned the video off after the first 11+ minutes of play, I counld't bear to watch it any more.
Toledo use a smothering defense and our girl's were shooting very rushed and off-balanced shots. Toledo have very fast players and were the better team.

Yet we had a great season!! Who would have thought the girl's would have 20plus wins?

We better recruit some super girls for next years team to replace a sensational Brandi Brown.

GREAT SEASON!!!!!!

No shame in losing to Toledo. They are an NCAA Tournament worthy team. Only lost 3 games, 1 to Dayton which is in the top 25, and 2 times to CMU, which is also in the NCAA Tournament.

Congratulations to the players and coaching staff. Great season for YSU, and hopefully next years team can build on this years success!!!!

Fantastic season ladies! Just a tough matchup today vs a VERY good Toledo team. What a season! Can't wait to see the transfers play next year we had sitting out this year

Where do the girls stand with recruiting?? Are we making a move up with the quality level of recruits as a whole?

Pizza,

The vast majority of women sign during the early recruiting period during the fall.  In the fall of 2010, we were coming off that disastrous 0-30 season.  All Boldon could "sell" was the promise that things would get much better.  Now as he enters his fourth recruiting season next fall, Boldon can "sell" 23 wins, a second place finish in the Horizon league, and a win in the WNIT.  Logically, his job should be much easier.

For next season, everybody is back except for Brown (gulp....big exception.)  Add to that two transfers that sat out this year, two freshmen that red-shirted, and two freshmen already signed last fall.  Only a fool would predict that this team will be better without Brown.  But it should have much more depth, and I suspect that Boldon will adjust the style of play.

The two transfers are two girls that were McDonald's All-American candidates.... Latisha Walker is 6-2. A big body down low that will give us a great post presence along with Flagg and Schlegel up front. She's from Xavier, and then Janae Jackskn is from Northern Illinois. A 5-9 tough, quick guard who I think will start in the back court with Davis. Add those two transfers with Hornberger, Mellissa, Monica, Flagg, Heidi, Davis, Barger and this a deep and talented team
