YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: YSU-Oberlin

That was difficult to watch.  Two years ago we're playing Georgia on ESPN now we had to rally to beat Oberlin.  Would like to see Fletcher Larson start with Hain to give us more size.  larson had 10  points in the 1st half when Hain got in foul trouble.

YSU Penguin Athletics / YSU vs Kent State B-ball
« on: November 16, 2014, 08:44:03 AM »
The 4 guard offense cannot go 2 of 18 and from three and shoot 50% from the line.    Not sure of what kind of team we have but they sure scrapped last night.   Hain HAS to stay on the floor. Bobby really looked confident and Amiker looks like he's ready to lead.  Hopefully the others can step up.

Paladan you may be right over the course of time but a broken clock is right twice a day. I'm going to give Wells his due since he has played better than I thought and he's the best qb on scholarship.  He's made all the throws against SDSU and I rather look at the good than speculate what might or might not happen down the road.   I'm sure he might struggle during this season but how many true frosh are ready at the next level ?

Thought he had potential  to develop into a decent producer.   Any word why he left?

Beamon never saw the court as a rs frosh.  Not devastating.   Wouldn't clump this in the Ryan Weber category.

I remember Coach Rosselli saying that Ziegler was the best shooter he had ever coached going into Dave's freshman season.  Back then we never played Kent so he didn't come back to Haunt us.

IAA,  Excuse my ignorance but what does it mean"to get everything together.   My understanding is that Webber is out of here.   Is Keene still in the program ?

If this is true then it's a major blow.  Slocum better have a plan b.  Ryan's improvement was big over the season and he had or has potential to be one of the top scorers in the Horizon.   If Keene is gone and now Webber I can only wonder if this program can ever have some good news ?

Dmorton, Like you I also look at all the very close 1 pt or ot losses we had and would like to think what the Penguins could have been.   I also know that we tied for 2nd to last place in the Horizon.   In my opinion this is was separates a wining team from a non-wining team is its ability to win a close game.          Having the best player in the league and finishing 2nd to last doesn't make me feel any more optimistic about the future of YSU basketball.

Thought it was a good call as I watched on HLN + the replays.    Still haven't got over that game.

I am a Jerry Slocum Supporter (rare on this board) but he let the Oakland coach sucker him into that play with .6 left.   He needed  his guys in the back court but not all out pressure.  I knew something like that was going to happen.  Saw Bobby Knight user a different version of that play 20 yrs ago.    Never saw that play with the guy running the baseline and a pick to set up the charge so all the credit to the Oakland coach.   I can only wonder if Slocum warned his players about a pick play during the time out.

Epic meltdown.   I feel like a baby and someone stole my candy out of my crib.    KENDRICK PERRY =  one of the all time great Penguins.

Webber needed to miss the 2nd ft and we're on to GB.
