Where was Adarius Bellamy today?  Is he hurt?  And what is the status of Demond Hymes?

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Basketball Recruiting

This would be quite a haul recruiting wise if we can get it done! Webber, Hahn, Johnson, Keene, Beamon, Belin, Plummer, Cleveland, and Stewart in two years.

I really liked Robic's resume and accomplishements when I read them, and thought the program was headed in the right direction.  So I have to agree with Ip  on this one.  I thought they gave up on him too guick!

I'm not happy about losing games at home that are winnable. ( ( Canisius,. Kent, Robert Morris UIC)  But face the facts, Slocum is not going anywhere on the showstring budget we have for basketball.  Remember we are a sub-500 club because we lost too many games at home.  Losing more that 1 or 2  games at home and not taking care of business at Beeghly killed our overall record which of course is sub-500 because we played three ( what I call scrimage games during the season).  If you want to call me an idiot that's on you, but Slocum knows more about coaching than you or I will ever know in our lifetime.  Remember also for the competition we played against, our two best players were out with injuries down the stretch drive.  It is what it is.  With that said let's get ready for the spring game and football season because that is coming up rather quickly.

Never said I wanted Slocum fired.  But if you want to call me idiot for caring about YSU sports that's fine!  I simply said I felt the team could of had 5-6 more wins, and to develop a killer attitude at home.  But if Slocum keeps recruting bonfied D-1 players and we may get that and more!  Remember we play in the 13th ranked conference in the NCAA, and all the teams will be improved next year.  We wll most certainly be ranked in the lower half of the conference with what we're losing to graduation. I didn't graduate from Idiot U or any other university.  I graduated from YSU in 1984 and damn proud to be a Penguin!

My point exactly, you have to be dominant at home to be a good team because chances are you are going to be 500 or below on the road.  The ladies took care of business at home, thus won over 20 games.  The men while having a decent record at home finished 6-10 on the road thus did not reach the magic 20-won mark so many on this board had hoped for.  Good teams like Valpo, Akron and other 20-plus win teams take care of business at home.  So did our ladies.  Do that and you'll have a YSU men's and women's team the fans will come out to see.  10-4, 10-5 at home does not cut it for a 20-win season, and most likely a sub-500 record.  That's why I get so frsutrated when this team loses focus at home.  Yesterday was agreat example!  Thank you Wick.

Sick and tired of losing games at home that are winnable games!  This game was all but gift wrapped to us, and what happens! We lose another OT game, that should never have got to that point.  This team has to learn how to protect the home court, or else YSU is not going anywhere let alone Horizon league titles and tourney appearances that our coach said he and the team covets.

The second we got into overtime, I knew we'd lose!

Once again we do not take care of business at home in overtime!  No way in hell should we have lost this game with everyone healthy!  We let one guy beat us! Billy Baron.

Let the kids play more games.  Some of these guys may not get another chance like this.  Even if they are pretty much a 14-15 win team.  It's not the kids who do the scheduling.

Thanks 1-AA for explaining how this works.  Glad YSU got invited.  Good for Eargle and Allen they get to play at least one more game!  Hope we go a long way in this tourney!

If it is true that you have to buy your way into this tournament, what have you really earned.

Too many missed free throws again.  Overall, a lousy year considering we played three teams at home that should not have been on the floor with us.  Faltered down the stretch because of KP's injury, DJ did step up enough to help out some what, but the team just could not do enough to secure the 4th spot for the tourney. Could have beat Wright, but the team just can not come out,  and fall behind like they did in a tourney game.  It was a nice effort to come back, but again too little, too late.  This program needs to take the next step to be one of the elite programs in the Horizon.  Can't use the recruiting budget as a crux any longer.  All teams in the league will be vastly improved next year!  Just random thoughts.
