YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Wolf Officially Gone
« on: November 24, 2014, 09:17:28 PM »
Even though I'm happy about the decision and agree that it needed to be done.  I would like to wish Eric Wolford and his family the best as they go forward.  I hope he's learned something from being the YSU Head Coach.  I wasn't a fan of his, but I've talked with people who said he is a really good man.    And that's good enough for me.  Good Luck Eric!!!

I had the privilege of meeting his mother in the elevator before the ISUb game.  A very nice woman who asked that we didn't say anything bad about her son on the way up.  I'm sure they all knew he was coaching for his job this year.

I don't get where everyone is talking that the program improved.  No, it didn't.  He had 0-fer months in each of the last 3 years.  And oh by the way, they were late in the year when your team SHOULD be improving not regressing.

Leave the whole program improved concept alone already.

A lot of you keep claiming that he's (Wolford) gotten better in his tenure.  Where?  Doing what?  I'm sorry, but he hasn't gotten any better, his teams have not gotten better.  They continually get worse as the season goes on.  In each of the last 3 years (2 November's/1 October), where they literally laid eggs in games that could have allowed this program to jump up in stature.  And get him that NEEDED signature win for this fanbase to rally around him and the team.  Remember, he's been here for 5 YEARS.  Same lack of preparation, same lack of adjusting during a game, same blame game playing after every loss, same horrible clock management, etc, etc.

HE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED!!!

Nope, no way.  I would give up our season tickets within 5 minutes after that hire.

Looking at the selections, an 8-4 YSU team would have been a lock.
If we offer it to Montgomery, we could perhaps expect a bit more rapid of a turn-around; but even then we could not demand it.

No coach from this staff should even remotely be considered for the position.

Didn't he have a really good run an UNI???  He certainly didn't have the talent at Missouri St that he would have/get at YSU.

I don't typically pay attention to the playoffs anymore.  But, for all the talk about the MVFC being the best in FCS, I will pay special attention to the first round games.  The 3 playing in the first round NEED to win those games.  In the 2nd round, well they will be lined up with another MVFC team (except for ISUb).  The conference got its wish this year....time to step up!!

Just read that Terry Allen (Missouri St) will be let go.  Possibility for YSU???  Or at least on the list??

Thanks for the math primer so I guess if you throw 14 tds vs 7 ints means he is doing a decent job.

It depends. Did the QB throw bubble screens or hit the back out of the backfield and watch them run 40 yards for the 14 TD's or did he stand up like a man and throw those TD's down the field into tight windows for score's? Also the 7 INT's on the year should have been 14 had the defenders caught the balls thrown right to them. You cannot argue that, including what should have been a pick 6 yesterday.

And YSU dropped its fair share of INTs as well!!!  That is a part of the game.  Or what about tipped balls that turn into INTs?  Or receivers who aren't where they're supposed to be?  Wells, I think he can be really good.  Hopefully he reflects on this season and comes out a better player next season.  He can be put under the microscope now, but I don't think that would be fair.  Let's talk Hunter Wells and how good he can be during/after next season.

It would be best for all parties if Wolford were allowed to resign.

I absolutely agree Wick.  Just was looking thru Twitter-verse and Scalzo said Wolford would like to come back.  Here's hoping he's not a hard-a$$ about it and just accepts the fact that his time here is overwith.

I can't even fathom a scenario that Eric Wolford is around come Monday morning.  If he is, then I agree that Strollo should go as well.

I hope the new coach is defensive oriented.  The tackling by this team is just atrocious.  BAD, BAD, BAD!!!

This team is just absolutely painful to watch.  And oh yeah, another stupid penalty (sideline penalty).  Horrible, horrible, horrible.  Coach it was real, but you have to go.  This team is just bad!!!
