YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Big Sky Conference
« on: December 07, 2013, 07:27:52 PM »
The MVC is obviously a top conference. HOWEVER , until NDSU joined and won two titles the last was won by Western Kentucky over a decade ago. Say what you want but the MVC has underachieved in the playoffs for years. YSU did not deserve to make the playoffs. End of story. And there is no anti-YSU or MVC conspiracy because other than the 100 core fans for each team, nobody even knows these games are being played.

Basketball by far. First round basketball tournament games probably draw 10x the viewers as the FCS championship game. Outside if the towns where FCS teams are, nobody knows those games are even on ESPN 11. People take off work to watch first round hoops games.

It's very difficult to truly compare top conferences since most don't play each other out of conference. The MVC plays Midwest regional patsies and the CAA plays east coast regional patsies. Probably the same with other conferences. So is the third place MVC team better than the third place CAA team or the second place Big South team? How the hell could anyone figure that out? Unless you win a conference or have 2 or less losses it is a complete crap shoot.

Lets not forget one point. Other than those of us nuts that follow this level of football, it is largely irrelevant. What possible incentive would a committee have to chose one team over another? Some presidents are probably secretly happy their teams get left out because they hemmorhage money in the playoffs

My favorite time of year.... Reading the conspiracy theories that kept poor old YSU out of the playoffs. Had nothing to do with 3 cupcake wins and crapping the bed at years end. Nope they seem to hold a team with 1 playoff appearance in 12 years to higher standards. Lol

I will say that once they start to get back in regularly they will get the benefit of the doubt when it is close. Until that happens it will be tough.

Haha. With his SEC experience you'd think he would have stud lines. But he loves the 5'5 receivers and backs.

I love the stupid extra point formation. Gimmick football. Win or lose, Sammarone must go home and pour acid in his eyes. Enough 2 yard passes. The spread is great if your QB is 6'4" and runs a 4.3.

Until they stop playing finesse football and start to prioritize defense, they are quite far from contending for a title. They play like a Big 12 team. Have to win 50-48. That is gay football. Man up and kick someone in the face.

Maybe they could get a home game for the 500 people that will go.

Power, calling out a player in that manner is unacceptable. You are a total d*****. He has enough football IQ to have gotten a D1 scholarship. Something you did not. Your weekly analysis is full of buzz words you have heard on TV. You have know idea what you are talking about and it gets old. It's not 1994. YSU is an above average team And nothing more. Stop expecting to see them perform like top tier team. Ain't happening. And stop calling out players personally. You embarrass yourself when you do that.

Classy comment.
