This loss should bring scrutiny on ALL the coaching staff, and then on their priorities in establishing an identity. With Wolford's rep I thought we would have had a really hard-nosed team-----not so. I want Tressel-ball back.
ill pass, teams dont win playing that way anymore, its 1940's outdated useless football
I am going to reserve any other comments till I watch the TV replay. I did post or start a thread after last week's game about the horrible special teams. Well they played even worse today.
Sad.
We are the Cleveland Browns of the league, always snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Wolford has to make the tough decision to get rid of our d coordinator. For him to succeed our defense has to be good. Very dissappointed and shocked to say the least.
Final YSU 53-49. Eargle with a huge block to protect a 50-49 lead with 1.4 left. UC-R coach gets tossed for arguing a non-call (which was correct - Eargle's block was clean).
damn ugly win and got away with one tonight - but its a heckuva lot better than losing a game like this.
YSU 20 0f 29 at the line, UC-R 6 of 12.
The increased number of teams selected to the playoffs has to be considered when comparing with past results. Seven wins today puts you on the bubble assuming all are D1 wins, just as 8 wins in the 16 team field often put you on the bubble. Prior to the playoff expansion, seven D1 wins rarely got you in unless it was an auto bid. We had 8 wins back in '96 and did not get selected, but three of our wins that year were against D2 schools so we didn't deserve it.
Correct me if I'm wrong Indy but I think....2001,2002,2005,2007. Sound correct? 7-8 wins and no playoffs those years.
"We look at everything that's available to us. We look at the polls, we look at the rankings, the ratings, whatever might be available to us. The one valuable thing about sitting together in the room is you have 10 (other) people who are from various parts of the country who might know some things that don't necessarily show on paper. For example, in a certain game, did they miss a key player, did they miss their quarterback, did they miss a running back?"I sure hope they really are going to this level of detail now, but there is no way they did much research when we should have made the playoffs in 2001 (Marshall game) and 2005 (SIU game).
Problem is that we have have no publicity except for a short paragraph that we "Derailed" NDSU and we are not in two of the 3 Polls mentioned. That was the reason why I think that we are getting screwed out of national attention. Hopefully is doesn't matter, but all of the data that I have seen in the past 15 years says that we need 9 wins to get in. The good news is that we beat two ranked teams and one of them was really late in the season, something that hasn't been done here in several years.
K-St doesnt pay that well either IIRC
You now hold the honor of the most uninformed post of the year.
Snyder's base salary is $1.925 million. Bonus of up to $455k

Perhaps instead of getting on here and insulting everyone who disagrees with you and acting juvenile, you should do a little research and learn some stuff. It took me all of 15 seconds to find that article with Google. Beleive it or not us old farts have some knowledge.
not sure why we cant keep Wolf? Tressel turned down the Miami (fl) job when they were in their prime when Butch Davis left before he took the Ohio St job, just saying.
its not very un-realistic to think we can keep a good coach, especially a guy who was born and raised here
Tressel was the exception, I would hope we can keep Wolf, but ita unrealistic with the money that is being thrown around by the big boys...Penguinpower stole my thunder...by bringing up KSU, that is his old school and he is very close to Coach Snyder...If its not about money and its family and home then he stays...but hell we offered the Stoops brother and rumor has it family said take the job come home...he took the money and Sunny fla. Lets hope he gets the job done first and enjoy the ride...maybe we will get lightning in the bottle twice!!! Go Penguins!!!
Florida St is a FAR cry from K-State
at FSU Stoops could get top end DBs to coach up, and FSU gave him a huge deal for a DBs coach, while K-St struggles to get many kids better then YSU which is why they recruit so many JUCO kids, they have to compete with OU, Kansas, Texas, Texas Tech, Okie St, Texas A&M, Missouri all in their area and thats just the big schools, while here in Youngstown and North East Ohio, you really only deal with Pitt, Ohio St, scUM and Mich St and for some reason Ohio St and scUM doesnt offer a ton of NE Ohio kids especially local kids, i would rather compete with 2 big schools then 7, and theres a ton of talent to go around in NE Ohio
K-St doesnt pay that well either IIRC
K-St isnt a concern IMO, even if you wanna say its his alma matter, well he's already coaching were he grew up so those 2 points even each other out
I am glad that you are a mind reader. Where did you get your crystal ball? Did you give any thought that he is coaching here because it a stepping stone, we have good access to premier hospitals such as the The Cleveland Clinic and Pittsburgh Children's for his son?
How much time do you think the guy spends here in Y-town? I would say not much over the course of the year because he is a perpetual recruiter and a competitor that doesn't like to lose. I would have to thnk that he travels a lot.
I only ask.....when playoffs are announced this Sunday.
Will the golden crown still fit?
GO PENGUINS

Tressel was also going through a divorce when Miami came calling and it wasn't a good time for him, he probably also knew that his dream job a possibility on the horizon when Cooper couldn't beat Michigan.
