It would have been shocking if he had stayed. I hope that he lands someplace that will give him an opportunity.

I thought he was the best qb at the spring game. Apparently, coaches didn’t think so.
It has been reported we also have a freshman qb coming in next year. Wondering if that has anything to do with his decision to leave.

I also thought this as he presented a more balanced attack and was a pass first QB. We do have a freshman from Florida coming in that looks like he can sling it. Maybe if we get a couple of deep threats he will compete for some playing time soon!

Our 4 wins this year - teams combined records are 14-29. We beat patsies and let’s face it the best win was against UND who are currently 5-6. One thing I think we are overlooking is that besides the Pitt and SDSU games, when we needed to score we didn’t and couldn’t. Villanova, Duquesne, Missouri State, South Dakota, Illinois State, SIU were all winnable games but we didn’t have the passing attack and balanced offense to win those games. Granted our defense was putrid all year but we were in those games but teams made adjustments against our one dimensional offense and we did not and could not score because we have no balance on offense and lacked the ability to stretch defenses. Priority in the portal - offense- Oline, 2 deep threat receivers, running back. Defense - front 7 and 2 secondary starters! Heard that the defensive schemes were too confusing this year?? We did lose a D coordinator who has Mercer winning their conference. Granted it’s not the MVFC but what happened?  I know.. we pay our assistant coaches beans and nobody would want to come here for little money. Heard it for 30 years. This off season is going to be crucial for this program. Otherwise we are looking at Pelini level breakdown.

We will be there also but barely hanging on. This week doesn’t mean much, the following weeks will mean much more. Who is losing their job?  Who is leaving for the portal? Heard he is bringing 15 recruits to this game?? They will look up and see 500 people in the stands. Save your time and get 15 portal kids that can come in and play right now, we don’t have the time to develop kids anymore, besides when you develop them they will leave. Sound familiar? I think kids today understand the business of college football better than our program does. Nobody is safe year in and year out. If you want to play either work your ass off or find a level of college that you can play at and the portal does that. The best coaches today are the ones that can bring in new people that are starters and gel them together like they played together for years. Head coaches need to be like CEOs more than X and Os.  The portal changed college sports and as a coach you need to adapt to the changes. Cant be old school and coach like it’s the 90s.  He’s sold on BB so we won’t see another Qb for two more years which is a shame. After this debacle of a season nobody would be safe, from the parking attendant to the coaches.

The roster is so bad how do you turn it around?  Not to mention, the FCS is so weak anymore it masks how bad this team really is.

He throws that second int. I would have benched him and that would let him know your position is not secure. But something is up?? We have had the same qb the entire season even getting blown out by Pitt and sdsu. Blanc came in late at Pitt and threw a pick six and he should never see the field again. Schondelmeyer needs a chance. Defense needs a complete overhaul. With any coach involved in the defense.

In all honesty I’m starting to question why I support this program so much??  Somebody convince me.

Simple, it's your team and you care

Problem is that I think I care more than the program does!! We need players that have a passion. How the F*** does a program let that happen??? Our crew has been around since the late 80s and one thing that is a program killer is a lack of passion by the players. Coaches can have all the passion they want but if it doesn’t transfer to the players then nobody gives a sh**. Hard to support that. I see a lack of care for details and a lack of passion for the fans anymore. Like I said. I like DP but holy hell!  That was an embarrassment!  After my QB throws two interceptions that were terrible I am pulling him and letting him know it’s unacceptable!  Are you telling me that one of those QBs can’t play??  WTF!!

I like DP. Great guy!  But JC are you serious!!  I have never seen a defense this poor and such a predictable offense. I really have no words. We should have moved Schondelmeyer to the starting QB and BB to slot and it would have changed the offense.

I cannot support the lack of coaching adjustments anymore. Teams realize that we cannot have a balanced offense and a defense that cannot cover St Mary’s Sisters of the Blind. When we are up 28-0 and still rely on a QB that should be a slot back with a defense that makes no adjustments to an offense that is shredding our secondary then I cannot defend them. Our crew watched the game together and knew what was going to happen. How doesn’t our staff see the same thing?  Either they are incompetent or can’t see the tendencies that everyone else sees.  What a difficult season!! We can’t identify portal talent! We don’t have the money to buy the team we need them it is time to leave this conference and form another conference with the same issues. Leave the western teams. Grab the NEC teams and look for CAA teams that want to leave that conference move on!

Well.. 5-7 is a possibility but still a very disappointing season. Hopefully the staff is recognizing the issues and will actively pursue ways to remedy the situation at each position. These games that don’t mean much will tell a lot about the staff, the players and the overall program. Will they cash it in?  Will they play hard?  Will the staff have them prepared or are they just going through the motions?  SIU is down to their graduate assistant who quit football to coach playing QB…if we don’t win this one the I think some changes definitely need to be made.
