Derek Rivers Named Third-Team STATS FCS All-American

Youngstown State junior defensive end Derek Rivers was named third-team All-American by STATS, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Rivers, a native of Kinston, N.C., was named first-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference for the second consecutive season in 2015. He posted nine sacks and 15.5 TFLs. He had sacks in seven of 11 games during the campaign.

During the season, Rivers set the school record for career sacks with 26 and he has one season remaining with the program. In 2015, he had 52 total tackles, including 37 solos. In conference games he had 36 tackles and five sacks

Another great season, congrats. It would be nice to see him get some serious looks by some NFL teams.

Last Thursday's NFL game we saw D. Johnson from UNI and M. Pruitt of SIU both make some plays as rookies. They were each drafted...I think Rivers is in their class athletically, it would be great to hear his name called at the draft.
