RMU Game
« on: February 12, 2024, 11:30:46 PM »
They are playing good basketball and we cannot take them lightly.  They hustle and we are vulnerable on defense the last three games..   it will most likely go down to the wire.   They RMU  have nothing to lose.   Both teams will be well rested going into the game Wednesday night.  Hopefully we can play defense the way we did all season and get back on the winning ways.

We need more team play instead of individual play in my opinion. Too many 3's taken and not enough of an inside game either driving or getting the ball inside to our bigs. In the league we could have (should have) won just about every game with this approach. And play determined smart defense. Can't believe how many times we were beat off the dribble in the GB game with better athletes.

RMU has been a program the last few years that has finished below YSU in the conference but has several times knocked us off.  Two years ago in the Horizon league tourney they came into Beeghley and walked out with a W.

Last season in our 24 win championship season they won late in the season in Pittsburgh by 19 and they were 8th in the conference.  Probably going to be a battle tonight especially if our D resembles the GB debacle.

Nice win and way to dominate on the boards.  I need to check out our defence percentage against 3 point shooting .  Seems like we're getting beat on that stat on a consistent basis but kind of tough when guys like Corbin are hitting them from the Y logo.

Thompson left it all on the court and hopefully his ribs are ok from his tumble.   You usually hear let the game come to you but Brett Thompson takes it to the game the man is audacious.

DJ Burns is automatic with double doubles.   I would rather see him with pump fakes and drives in the paint and mix in a jump hook instead of falling  in love with the 3 ball.  He's rebounding late in the season at another level.

Green Bay lost to NKU, while Oakland won!   Both 12-4, YSU 11-5!

Wasn't the prettiest of victories, but a much needed one and pretty much a must win with the next 3 on the road. Keeps YSU with a shot at the title back just 1 of Oakland & GB, but I'm afraid those home losses are going to come back to bite YSU.  YSU also keeps a 2 game lead over 4th place CSU & NKU.

Thompson, Reid & Burns are just playing tremendous basketball.  YSU wasn't very smart late in the game and kept RMU in it by taking quick shots, committing fouls & the technical.

Not much bench production and just 6 points by Rush.  It's hard to figure what's happened to him.  Coach did say in his press conference this week that he asked him if he wanted to come off the bench and he said no.  That's 3 straight games with 6 points or less & 8 for the season with 6 or less.  YSU is 4-4 in those games and none of the wins are against teams with winning records.  I just feel if YSU is going to go on a run in the tourney, they need Rush to score the ball.
